Trying to run a VB 6 application on Windows 8 and I receive the error "ComCtl32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".

I have followed the advice from here:

and downloaded Visual Basic 6 cumulative update VB60SP6-KB2708437-x86-ENU.msi, unzipped it and copied the comctl32.ocx to the Windows\SysWOW64 and registered it with regsvr32. I no longer get the error but the application will not load.

Can anyone shed some light on, I don't normally program in Visual Basic but have incorporated a VB 6 executable in a C# project.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Yea then you are probably better of in the C# forum where VB6 is not off topic like in this forum.

However, your question is not about programming but about how to run that 32bit OCX. Microsoft told the last OS version which would run code depending from the vintage VB runtime was W7. Some get it also running on W8 but that is mainly a search on Internet and in no way guaranteed it will run tomorrow also after a system update.
