I am a Sharepoint Novice so my question may seem premature. However, I work for a local university that uses the Sharepoint as our student portal.  We would like to alert students of a new policy once they log into the portal.  Is it possible to customize an alert that will direct students to a webpart with a series of questions they must answer?

Does this sound doable?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi, 

Here are suggestions for your reference.

Create a survey list and create the question.

Create a custom page and set the page as welcome page by going to site settings->Welcome page(under Look and Feel section).

Insert the survey list to this page, so students logon SharePoint, they’ll be redirected to this welcome page and answer survey.

You could add script(alert) by insert script editor webpart to this page and insert script into script editor webpart.
