Hi,
I'm trying to download the VS 2015 Update 3 x64 remote tools but the process is unbelievably painful. The download links from MSDN forward me to a site which tells me I cannot be signed in but doesn't ask me for any credentials, so I'm stuck there.
I noticed, from time to time Visual Studio tells me via a yellow exclamation mark on the upper right corner that I have to re-enter my credentials, which I sometimes do, but usually ignore, as I'm getting annoyed, but now I tried to re-enter my password and surprisingly, it doesn't work anymore, so I clicked on "reset password" but this doesn't do anything. So I tried to click "forgot password". Nothing happens. When I try to log on at visualstudio.com I also fail. I also tried to click "forgot password" and "reset password" on live.com but the links won't work. The latter forwards me to a page which loads for a minute or two and then stays blank/white.
I must add, as a result of confusing user interfaces and numerous rebrandings of different services, I accidentally created a second windows live/hotmail/outlook.com/whatever account a few years ago, so now I got two (private) accounts. One I usually use for private stuff, like on my smartphone, and the other one I use mostly for work-related stuff (but it's not a company-account). My Visual Studio account is connected with the latter. Frankly, I have no idea which account I'm posting from here and right now, as I could not find a way of figuring out, but I think it is my visualstudio account and must thus be the one I use at work, but my account page here doesn't tell me much, only a user name I had to enter quite some time ago, but the name here does not match either of the two live.com/hotmail/outlook.com/windowsessentials/skype/whathaveyou login names, not sure what it is good for, it's just adding to the confusion. I dare not signing out and trying to log on, since I'm afraid I cannot log on anymore. I guess you noticed that I completely lost track of how all these microsoft sites and account and services are linked and what they actually are. It's a total mess I must say.
Btw: when I go to visualstudio.com straight from here, by clicking Downloads > Visual Studio, I am *not* logged on at visualstudio.com and I am unable to log on there. The cruel thing is that visualstudio.com lets me download the 2017 remote tools right from the downloads page, but for 2015 I have to click on "older versions", which takes me to a page requiring me to log in or register as a MSDN subscriber.
So, I guess, what I'm asking is three things:
1) Where can I get the 2015 Update 3 remote tools, pain free?
2) How can I reset my password?
3) What is this account-mess all about and can anybody point me to, I don't know, maybe a diagram explaining what is what and how all these MSFT sites and accounts relate?

I get the same issue, it still require the account's additional information.
So I think it was not your account issue, I will report this issue to the VS2015 connect site even if it was not the VS IDE or debugging tools issue:
