As you point out here -- you have Access 2003 files.  That is -- Access is a file based RDBMS.   The multi-user capabilities of Access2003 are somewhat limited compared to Access2010, so that means Access 2003 is kind of touchy in a multi-user scenario.  So your company migrated from a Netware (Novell) network system to the Active Directory (Microsoft) network system.   I am assuming your workstations are Windows workstations?  If this is the case then you shouldn't be having the issues you describe.  If your workstations are Windows based and having these issues -- maybe the Active Directory user accounts need have permissions adjusted.  One other issue might be that one workstation is still using the Netware client while the other workstation is on the Active Directory client.  All the workstations need to be using the same client (Active Directory).  Check the Local Area Network properties of each workstation to make sure that all of them have Client for Microsoft Networks (Active Directory) selected.
