I am trying to establish a PPP connection to an embedded device using Windows 7. I have noticed that after I get a PPP connection, I seem to have a problem with other Ethernet adapters (my Pidgin client loses its connection). I have not seen this behavior on Windows XP.

Though this is a year late, I find it frustrating to see no answer. So given that we just had to solve this problem, I will post our (me and my colleagues) solution.

It would appear that the PPP connection is trashing the routing table.
- 右键单击你的连接和选择属性。 （在控制面板，网络和Internet，网络连接下。）

- 选择"Internet协议版本4（TCP / IPv4）"

Not having this checked allowed the connection to wipe out our other routes. I suspect that this what is happening to Frank's Pidgin client as well.
