Hi,

There is an advisor in azure portal for installing monitoring agent on VM. I need to know is this required?

Is there any email notification if something happens?

If any services stops will I get notified and also will it displays the event logs through email like what has gone wrong?

How much will it cost for a vm per month?

Hi, 

Azure monitor(Preview), collects data from the Virtual Machines and stores these logs to an Azure Storage Account. If you want my opinion, this is a very useful service which I used a lot in my business.
