I used chkdsk after trying to defrag and being told there was an error on the disc.  I tried again and was asked to try chkdsk next time the sytem was switched on as a folder was in use.  I agreed to this  but the screen was totally black and no response from the computer after switch on.  I think I have used the wrong parameters or used them incorrectly after the chkdsk command.  How can I get my computer back on?  i am using Windows XP.
