So I have set everything up correctly as far as I can see. I have ICS turned on and the workgroup for both computers named the same. I also have the Window's 7 HomeGroup set as "Home Network" instead of Public.

I turned off both the firewalls to both computers to make the transition less restricting.

My Windows 7 Desktop says its getting internet through the laptop (Network shows internet access) but when I try and open a web browser, the page cannot be displayed. I also changed the Windows 7's File sharing connections to use the 40 or 56-bit encryption.

The Laptop is able to use the internet freely even though my desktop is not able to use it.
