I'm new to windows phone 8 dev and was wondering about the issue of piracy. Since Microsoft is going the multi hardware vendor route like google Android, why would a developer invest in learning and developing phone apps if the hardware is not locked down? This doesn't seem to be a problem with iPhone because there are stiff consequences when jailbreaking a phone. iPhone/iPad devs actually make money, where Android devs don't have the same luxury. Will Microsoft help prevent this from happening?

Apart from that, even if they would steal it, there's no way they can get it into the marketplace. Since WP is the only platform for these apps, it's just not worthed investing time in pirating them
