Hi, I just recently installed VB 6 pro Edition on my window 7 laptop running 64 bit. For some resaon, it doesnt work properly, like every time i just to view code, or run the program, it just crashs with a message" the program has stopped working" .  Basically, the whole program doesnt seem to work. Can anyone helpe me out?

Hi,

There are a number of issues between using VB6 and earlier versions with

Windows Vista or Windows 7 from what I've read on these forums.

 

You can either;

• Set up a dual boot computer with Windows 7 and Windows XP and use VB6 on XP or some other earlier Windows operating system.
• Install VirtualBox and then run Windows XP inside a Window ( known as a virtual environment ) and install VB6 on it. Get VirtualBox here.>> http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

 

 

or Start using the latest FREE version of Visual Basic ( .Net ) which you can get from here.>>

VB6 is quite old now, the 1st version of VB.Net was 2002 followed by 2003, 2005, 2008 and then the current version which is 2010. So you can see that using VB6 is way behind the times I hope.

Coincidentally Microsoft continued the major version number, so 2010 versions of VB.Net are also known as VB10 or VB-TEN
