I have a verified DreamSpark student account and a registered windows phone (Nokia Lumia 610), A developer profile which is completely up to date. Now after all of this when I'm trying to install some apps after manually downloading it from the windows phone website via the xap deployment tool, it shows "XAP file invalid." Even if I uninstall any installed app (such as facebook for windows phone) from my mobile, and then try to re-install it through xap deployment (after manually downloading the xap file from windows phone website), it shows "xap file invalid". Now what am I doing wrong? I got verified up to date account everywhere.. registered phone.. what else i need? Thank you for any help ! :)

Any time a file is downloaded to your computer, that file is subject to censorship by antivirus software.

Also it is possible that you need to right click on the file, choose Properties and unclick the "Block" checkbox if it is present.

You can rename the XAP to ZIP to inspect the file for unusual characters in it, see if EXEs got deleted by AV software etc.
