I am using HP Elitebook 840 G3 laptop. I want to develop an application  in which I would like to use laptop provided finger print . My objective is to scan a person's biometric using laptop provided finger print scanner and then to read the captured finger print within my application. Assume that my application is a Dot NET 4.5 application in windows 7. Is there an sdk or libraries provided to read the captured finger print? Basically I want to get the captured finger print picture/image data to do a finger print verification in our application.

Seems "Synaptics FP Sensors" is supported by "Windows Biometric Framework". So in this case you can use WinBIOS.NET to capture the fingerprint.

That said, I don't think it provides image of fingerprint directly. It'll just return identification data (sampled "points of location" of the scan) for the scan.

To retrieve the image of the scan you'll need to contact the fingerprint scanner's vendor to see if they provides SDK that provide function for you to do so. (Most fingerprint scanner vendor don't provide such function for privacy and security reasons. Sampled data is enough for identifying person for device access, but enabling access to full image capture will open access for criminal activity... say they may create trojans that replace GINA and side-capture your fingerprints when you login then pass handle back to genuine GINA handler, and then pass your fingerprint and other person identifying documents scraped from your computer back to their server)
