In my application one PC streams to the other one, UDP video packets. When both are inside a lan there is no problem. When they are in the Internet the streamer is disconnected from the Internet after a few seconds.

Can anyone advice regarding any possible reason for that?

Are the machines firewalled?  For the UDP stream, are they using multicast?  Inside the LAN are they on the same network subnet?  How bout on the Internet, are they both on the same subnet?  How are you connecting them to the Internet?  Does the ISP support IGMP?
