I am using the a custom dialog to display a content while graying out the main window. if the Main window is maximized before the custom dialog is displayed everything works fine. i.e when i resize the Main Window it refreshes properly. But say if i have resized the window to a smaller size and the open the custom dialog and then try to maximize the main window the contents of the main window does not resize/redraw. And once the model dialog is closed the Main window renders properly.

That's what Modal is all about.  The window with the code to call ShowDialog will become inactive and will only respond once the Modal window is closed.
