Just in case you mis-read the title, I am not asking for Visual Studio itself to be a 64 bit app.  That particular issue has been discussed at great length elsewhere, and I completely respect Microsoft's decision that it remain a 32 bit app.

What I am after is the ability to completely remove support for building 32 bit apps in Visual Studio.  With the new lightweight install technology we're getting with Visual Studio 2017, this may be a real option for me.

Assuming that's not an option, is there some way I can configure Visual Studio 2017 that when I create a new project, it has x64 alone as the only supported platform?  Right now, when I create a solution in Visual Studio 2015, the first thing I do is to go through the configuration manager and trim off the 32 bit configurations.  While I don't create solutions that often, it's still a step I take that should not be necessary.  It'd be nice if the solution was created with no 32 bit platforms right from the start.
