We're using one of the most popular VS extensions, 'Serenity'. On the visual studio gallery page for it there was a Q&A section where the devs interacted with the end users. It is where most of the knowledge transfer took place and is a wealth of information.
In the past couple of days that section has vanished:

Would anyone know if the Q&A section is simply being migrated over, or has Microsoft removed that feature completely?

Yes, the VS gallery site has been updated to the marketplace.

The "Q & A" has been removed, actually other community members also submitted the user voice for this issue to the new marketplace:
