I'm new to phone 8 programming..

Can someone advise what are the API(s) to use for sending DTMF? We need to build an application that talks to an IVR machine..

You can't "send DTMF", there isn't an API for that.  Apps get suspended while a call is in progress, so that limits your use of such an API as a third party developer.  And, to put the final nail in the coffin - I don't believe app audio/music sounds at all while a call is in progress.

You could build an app with recorded DTMF tones in WAV files and use the app to play the tones out of the phone's speaker and into the speaker of another phone.
