Hello,

I am looking for an add on spell checker that can be incorporated on .net application. That is upon typing a word on an input text box, it will interactively check the spelling just like on aword document. For instance if you type the word tet instead of test, it will underlined this and offer several text to replace this.

Any add on software you know or is there a sample program that you come across.

It makes very little to know sense of embedding of a spell checker into a ASP.NET applications.

As you tagged the question as ASP.NET, it suggests that you would like to embed it on your site, on the server side (otherwise the tool would have nothing to do with ASP.NET). But then HTTP requests would flow the server part almost continuously as the user types. It would kill performance. Now, how about the client part, through a script? It would need the whole dictionary to be downloaded to the client site. Also not good.

I would advise you to give up on this. The users who cares about spelling would use a Web browser which has embedded spell checker, or a plug-in for spell checking. To me, it looks like the only reasonable solution. I already forgot the time when I did not have a spell checker embedded in the browser, for Windows, Linix and Mac OS X. The mere nasty fact that IE does not support spell checking (or does it? in newer versions?) does not mean it should always be that way.
