In my Lightswitch application I have a requirement where I need to load the data in a dropdown on selection of another filter.

The dropdown contains loads of data (in ten thousands) & it’s taking a lot of time to retrieve it using a Stored Procedure, & hence the loading of the page.

I have a query here, There is one refresh icon at the bottom of the dropdown, is it possible that at first I load only 10 items in the dropdown & when user clicks on refresh, on run-time it will fetch rest of the data using any SP/Query. In this way time taken by the page-load at first time can be reduced.

Use the modal window picker instead of the dropdown. It uses paging. No one is interested in dropdowns with thousands of records.
