I'm totally new to VS, but I really need to learn in short time. But I can't install it. First, it crashed right after reboot, said there was a problem with a .ini file. I couldn't take screenshot but it was a file containing "wizard". Then I re-started setup, it all went good, installation got to 99% and then I got a message saying "Failed to launch process"

As you told there is no file in the VS 6.0 Setup directories as it is a link to a web page or image.

You mentioned showing .ini file problem but you are not mentioned any particular file name. anyhow it look a file corrupt on your media by means of virus attack or any scratches on you CD media.

So, check the file existing or use a clean setup files which is not  attacked by any virus or else
