Dear all,

i've a question related to the update of an existing External Data field.

My situation is that i've a list in my SharePoint that use an External Content Type connected to a SQL Database to retreive some data.

The point is that now i've to change the source of this External Content Type by changing the SQL database connection (and also the database name) so my question is: how can i change the connection of the External Content Type without loose any data?

Per my test, it is difficult to change the connection of an existing external content type to another database.

As a workaround, you can create a new external content type connected to the new database. And create a new list using this new external content type.
