Hello, recently I came across an issue with sending emails from our Sharepoint 2013 sites.  I have configured the outgoing emails in CA to point to smtp.domain.com (proper one of course) with a from address and no reply-to address.  Now, the emails are failing, and in the ULS logs I see that it says the smtp server is rejecting the connection because the ehlo command is not sending the fully qualified hostname with it.  How do I resolve this?  This is an external smtp server, probably postfix, that another group is in charge of and I have very little visibility into.  Can I see what Sharepoint is sending, and how can I force it to send the FQ hostname with the ehlo?

Unfortunately there is nothing on the SharePoint side you can do to modify how the email is sent; the only thing you would be able to do is relay it off of another SMTP service (e.g. IIS SMTP) to modify how the email is sent to the external SMTP service.
