I am trying to create an Employee directory in an on prim SharePoint 2013 portal. I am going to pretty much follow below links to do the same

We also have office 365 SharePoint online so I am wondering what is the most efficient way to accomplish this task?. I looked in to Delve which looks good and I can create a link on my portal to Delve page but I can not go to Delve page and come back to internal portal seamlessly (single sign on)  . This employee directory should be part of internal portal.

As you mentioned, when we create a link to Delve in SharePoint site, there is no easy way to go back to SharePoint site we come from, just click the Back in the browser.

Why not create a page with Search People layout and change the Query in search result web part to display the People as mentioned in the links for SharePoint 2013, we can also use this method in SharePoint Online.
