We have a business Requirement for exposing dates and events from our production environment  as a true calendar which can be added as an seperated calendar in standard Calendar applications such as Outlook (2010/13, by using  the function open calender from internet option) 

I'm searching for specifications and examples to create such a service.....

I am unable to understand your requirements. Please clarify:

1. Do you plan to build a WCF service that exposes these dates and events data?
2. If so, what is the possible method signature that your service would expose? I am trying to understand the format of the data you want to pass via the method call
3. What kind of client would consume this data? Silverlight? ASP.NET?
4. You mentioned about "function open calender from internet option", can you elaborate on this?

If possible, you can upload a flow diagram so that we can understand what you trying to do so that we can assist you accordingly.
