I am having difficulty deleting storage accounts I don't use and being charged for.

I have deleted the VMS and removed the vhdS but when going to delete the storage account I get:

Failed to delete storage account 'XXX'. Error: The storage account cannot be deleted due to its artifacts being in use.

When trying to delete the resource group (these contain 3 resources - they all need removing) I get the following error:

(Code: ResourceGroupDeletionBlocked) The storage account cannot be deleted due to its artifacts being in use. . (Code: AccountIsLocked).
