On the SharePoint 2013 Standard web front ends, there are roughly 50 or more iexplore.exe and iexplore.exe *32 processes running; all under the SharePoint Farm account. I am curious why that is, and what might be causing it. There are 2 WFEs and 2 App servers, running Windows 2008 R2 standard and the App servers don't have these processes running.
Sysinternal Process Explorer shows this command line: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -Embedding and this Autostart location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Htmlfile\Shell\Open\Command\(Default)

It seems that the WFE server probably is infected with malware. Please try to start Virusscanner or other security programs to remove malware, then test whether this behavior still exists.

You can try to use the Process Explorer tool to find the root cause.
