If Azure SQL Geo Replication was set-up before you configured ADF + SSIS, and you configured the connection string with a value other than what the DNS CNAME value is (established while configuring SQL Geo Replication), then the failover event will most likely break the SSIS package load process.

If you use the DNS CNAME record for your connection string, then a fail-over event should not break anything.

Overview: Active geo-replication and auto-failover groups

Failover group read-write listener: A DNS CNAME record formed as <failover-group-name>.database.windows.net that points to the current primary server URL. It allows the read-write SQL applications to transparently reconnect to the primary database when the primary changes after failover.
