I would be developing a online forum and I am new in web development.

I would like to ask for your idea of what asp.net control are you using in creating online forums wherein i could embed links, images, quotes and etc.

I have done that some time back. I will suggest

1. Get the understanding on architecture and Database schema from a very good book "Eight dynamic projects in PHP mySql".

2. understand the presentation, business and, data access framework from the same book.

3. translate these understanding into ASP.NET C# implementation and you can implement the complete forum easily and in almost a couple of weeks.
