Accessing paths outside of the virtual directory where your ASP.NET application resides can be tricky. An ASP.NET application is usually executed under an account that has restricted access to the system hosting the IIS. This is done for security reasons. If it is an absolute nesecessity to access that directory you will have to assign the proper access rights for the account your application is running under.
