SOLVED:
1. go to a new word doc.
2. use the style that failed in the important one.
3. copy the format.
4. go to the important document and paste the format.
5. change the font type.
6. loose all the numbers in all the titles!!!! :(
7. change the list type to number+title
8. it works!

Truly I don''t understand that, but it seems that it works now...

QUESTION:
Hello all,

I''m preparing a word document and I''m using styles in the titles in order to generate automatically a "Table of contents".

1. title 1
1.1 title 2
1.2 title 2
1.1.1 title 3
1.1.1.1 title 4
...


I''m using from title 1 to title 6 and all the texts are fine except for the title 4 ones.

The most curious thing is that the numbers on the left side of the title itself are not visible, in the place the numbers should be seen, only a big black box is shown.

1. title 1
1.1 title 2
1.2 title 2
1.1.1 title 3
1.1.1.1 title 4 ; the striked text is what is under a black box (like if the background and the font would be black.
...

If I look at the styles gallery the "title 4" is also showing the black box there...

Any idea on how can I recover the number part of a style?

PS: Word 2010 here and using other documents work properly; I''ve wrote 85 pages already and it would be nice not to have to repeat them...

Instead of using title 1 through 6 use the ordered numbering (on one style) which will automatically give you what you want on indentation.
