Sorry that my observation is highly subjective. It really depends on the level of carrier. I changed job many times, had tons of interviews and almost never been asked about such certifications. I saw some job opportunities where such certifications were considered highly desirable, but by indirect signs I usually had the impression that such jobs are more for well-trained monkeys.

When I''m looking at a candidate, I personally think that certification is not education. It''s next to nothing compared to real education (don''t mix up with "training"), experience, creativity, rationality, practical skills, attitudes and higher values. I knew many clever people who make or advise decisions on hiring developers and agree with this opinion.

Again, this is very subjective. It also highly depends on what you want.

I''m talking only about software development and similar creative roles. For example, in system administration certification plays apparently more important role.
