How do anyone may know how you gather the requirements?! Maybe in a sloppy way but may be brilliantly. :-)

I would suggest you do it very thoroughly, but not in all the detail, focusing on the fundamentally important aspects. You can improve requirements after you assemble the first prototype and hence get yourself well familiar with the problem. The thinking that you can gather all requirements correctly and then implement them in architecture, design and code without changing is wishful thinking; it can only delay the completion of the project (sometimes — forever!) and compromise quality.

This all requires considerable experience which you only can get by developing projects.
