Hi everyone,
I am writing a program for an experiment, which requires using 4 speakers putting in four positions: front/right, front/left, rear/right, and rear/left.
What I want to do is that a sound can be generated from one of the four speakers (randomized by program) each time.

For two speakers, I am possible to separate the left and right speakers easily using the pan change with the DirectSound. However, I have no ideas how to work this out with four speakers. Do I need to install 2 soundcards for the purpose?

I appreciate that if anyone can give me a direction or some hints for achieving the design of my experiment.

For that whatever sound card you are using that must be audio output with 4.0 channel or 4.1 etc.. but not 2.0 like left and right. using directshow.net[^] library you can use.
