On most topics, they are good enough for getting started (and for all further activity). Use them!

Also, pay attention that Microsoft auto-generated code is fine for auto generation, but... many learn how to write actual code. Nut auto-generated code is written in the style not suitable for human programmers. It also use obsolete techniques. (Why would they improve auto-generated code every time the language improved, indeed?) So, use samples written for people, not auto-generated code (however, reading it helps understanding how it works).

Nearly every time I see someone is using a book on concrete aspect of programming, I find some mistakes, bad advices and obsolete techniques.
I cannot recommend any particular manual. I recommend to be careful, actually try to implement things you''re interested in and use critical thinking.
