Hello,
This seems like it should be simple - on the double-click event of a
tablelayoutpanel, I want to know which cell was double clicked in. I can''t
see any of the properties that look relevant to this, could someone give me

Double click on tablelayoutpanel means you are clicking on whole control so you are unable to get rows and columns.

I dont konw what is your task to do with tablelayoutpanel but on cell paint event you can get row and column with e.row and e.column.
