I have reproduced your problem. The solution is pretty simple, don't configure AutoMapper and set the base type of the enum to byte. Like this:

public enum RowStatusEnum : byte

byte x = 3;
RowStatusEnum rowStatus = Mapper.Map<RowStatusEnum>(x);
