Due to the unsupported features, I plan to create a clone lab test environment from existing setup to another subscription, and make migration trials first in this sandbox. For this I am using instructions and scripts in AsmToArmMigrationApiToolset.

Anyhow, seems that the tools & scripts does not give support copying the cloud services to lab environment. Motivation for sandbox is to test workarounds (a) and (b) separately.

First thing to note is that the steps you are following from the GitHub sample are two years old. It is very likely that many of the steps and commands have been changed so I would not fully trust the steps provided.

I have never heard of anyone "Cloning" a cloud service before. Essentially if you wanted to have a second version of your cloud service in another subscription you could just create a new cloud service and upload the same code from cloud service 1 to cloud service 2. But maybe I am not fully understanding the end goal here.
