I made a backup of my Android source folder ( size 31.7 GB) by copying it from one Harddrive to other.
I observed that the destination folder size has increased showing 52 GB size.
The number of files in the source folder were approx 6 lakhs and after copying to destination folder, the number of files had become approx 7 lakhs.

Same problem occurred while copying the source folder from one computer to another computer through LAN.

Any suggestions or any useful information regarding this will be appreciated.

Does the directory contain links?
They may get expended.
Use instead (cd srcdir; tar cvf - ) | (cd destdir ; tar xf - ) or alike.
