Hello There! I am working with a customer who is exploring LogAnalytics queries to query the following for his Linux VMs

1. Detect inode errors or file sync errors
2. Detect any types of disk errors : In the recent times my customer has seen disk entries being missed out in fstab (File System Table) and it has been resulting into disk not being detected when the VM reboots
3. Users logged in at any time and also the processes run by each user

Hi Mayur,

Syslog data source collector helps to monitor syslog event logging protocol records from supported facilities like user, daemon, uucp, auth, etc. For detailed information, refer this tutorial.

For any other facilities (like utmp for users logged in at any time, etc.), configure a Custom Logs data source as explained here. In case if your data cannot be collected with custom logs then send the data directly to Azure Monitor using HTTP Data Collector API as explained here.

For requirements related to objects and counters like inodes, disk, memory, network, processor, processes, users, uptime, etc., configure required performance counters as explained here.
