I have linux (ubuntu) on a usb flash drive ,( that means that it''s read only)... I boot from the usb drive, I open some files from the hard disk that contains Windows ( this hard disk is the master disk when I boot from windows) I do some work ,and then I shut linux down...the point is that it cannot shut down properly because linux is not installed, and thus no changes can be saved, so sometimes the files I open from my Windows drive don''t close...anyway, when I boot from Windows after booting from ubuntu, CHKDSK runs, finds some damaged or corrupted indexes and then fixes the problem... but last time the CHKDSK couldn''t open , because I got a ''disk read error'' on boot time, and it''s a pain in the @$$ to fix the problem (I must disconnect the drive, connect it to another system as slave etc...)
how can I be sure that all files in my original master disk are properly closed, and that my master drive is intact ??
