Hello,

I'm programming in C++ using Visual Studio 2015.       I placed my project in the "Backup Files" folder.    This morning, when I went to load the project, the "Backup Files" folder was no longer there, and the project is missing.   I was working on the project yesterday.

Note, I didn't realize that the "Backup Files" folder was put there by Visual Studio.  I just saw it as a place to put the project.   Now, the folder and project are both missing.     I looked in the "Recycling Bin" and it's not there.   (I have Windows 7).

Where can I find this missing folder and project?   It has to be somewhere!

Hi John,

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

Usually, the folder C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Backup Files is be used to back up the VS 2015 projects, not sure why this folder missed on your computer, did you made some specific operations or the computer be forcibly shut down.

If you directly search this folder name or project name in File Explorer window, you can find it or not?

Please follow this: Recover lost or deleted files and right click the upper folder Visual Studio 2015, choose ‘Restore previous versions’ to restore.
