In a base catalog sequence a set of child categories. Rebuild the virtual catalog and make sure materialized is NOT CHECKED. Browse to the site and observe that the sequence you set for the category in the base catalog shows up. Go back to catalog manager turn ON materialization, refresh the cache and go back to the site and observe the same category and noticed the sequenced child categories are NOT as they were sequenced in the base catalog.

I will not have time for a little while to check it on my vpc, but one question comes to mind, what happens if you sequence products in the virtual catalog, not the base catalog, before turning on materialization? Do you still lose your sequencing when you materialize?
