We have a SharePoint 2010/Commerce Server 2009 production environment in which the Production WFE and the Staging WFE are sharing the MCMS_Admin database on a shared SQL Server 2008 SP1 server. CS Staging is installed and configured on the Staging Server only. A project was configured to move Marketing data & promotion codes from Staging WFE to the Production WFE. This has worked well for several months and is not the problem.

The problem I am having is in QA where I'm trying to duplicate the staging/production CS Staging project. I've compared the configuration in production to the configuration in QA and they are exactly alike, but I can't seem to get the CS Staging job to work in QA. When I start the project, I get an immediate error window displaying "The system cannot find the file specified.". Mostly when this happens, I get nothing in the Event Viewer, but sometimes I get a 61208 error stating that CSS can't access the database "Unknown" because of insufficient access or it is in use by another user.

The Commerce Server Service ID is the correct Domain Staging account for QA and I've checked multiple times to verify it is in the CSS_SG group, that it has access to the Deploy Folder specified in the project, that it has proper db roles for the web services dbs and that I have sysadmin access in SQL.

I thought it might be the Events db it had problems with, but after verifying the rights on it, I still get the immediate "Unknown" db error and the project fails.

Hi, not sure about what is causing your problem, but would first check if the staging environment works on QA for a simple file copy project. Then I would check Azman rights for your staging account and then scale up from there, seeing which business data staging will work for.
