We're trying to use TFS for source control on a new environment. The server has just been set up so there's a chance there's something wrong there. 

When trying to add an Integration Services (SSIS) project into TFS, we get the following error message:

TF10160: The item $/project1 is not a supported server item.

We tried adding the existing project to TFS, or creating a project under the team explorer, same error message.

Database projects were added to the same TFS instance successfully - just SSIS doesn't work.

Toolset: Visual studio professional 2015 update 3; data tools 14.0.61021.0; TFS 2015 Version 14.102.25423.0

Help! there's a real risk of using git as this doesn't work ;-)

Do you use Git or TFVC? Both of them work fine for me with SSIS project.

What’re detail steps that you connect to team project and add project to source control? Could you reproduce this issue on other machine?

Try to clear client cache of TFS and try again. (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation)
