Currently I am testing EE3 as a replacement for WME9. The company I work for uses WME9 for encoding broadcast quality live streams for our customers. Currently the system I am working on is a Server 2003 system using a Decklink HD Extreme capture card as the source with SD material being fed into it. The profile I am using is 720x480, 29.97, 2Mb. In WME9 i am using WMV Advanced Profile and in EE3 I am using VC-1 High.

In EE3 I have tried putting the complexity up to "Good" which did not seem to make much of a difference. The video has horizontal lines that look almost like interlacing. The deinterlace mode does not make a difference.

Is this a common issue or simply an artificial quality restriction to get users to upgrade to one of the paid versions?

It could be that there is a bug in the deinterlacing we options for this card. We have had sporadic reports of this in version 3. There is no built-in quality reduction or anything like that.

Do you have the QFE for v3 installed? We are releasing version 4 very soon and have done lots of testing with the Decklink devices and are not seeing any issues like this, so upgrading might be an option when it is released.
