Having Mytask webpart on  "Site on a different SharePoint farm" is not supported, if your Mysite is in same farm, You can use the same.

Just  a Note: When the user creates a Mysite, She/he will need to Click Site Actions >Site Settings, under Site Connection Administration group click Site Connection Features, active the "Project Web App Ribbon" feature.
