Having looked at client side development (Angular, ReactJS, JavaScript etc) and compared what is offered with Visual Studio Code (VSC) compared with what is offered by commercial Visual Studio (VS) I am surprised to come to the conclusion that VSC seems to destroy VS completely. Just look at the support for snippets, VSC seem to have several good extentions on Visual Studio Marketplace which offer really good support for Angular, React etc. but for VS there is only one extention for Angular 2 that seems outdated. At the same time, VSC seem to offer no real support for large scale application, like projects, solutions, mature TFS integration etc. Normally, you would find the free versions offers less functionality than the paid versions, but in this regard, it seems to be quite the opposite.

What is Microsofts plan for the future here regarding VS vs VSC? Are we supposed to use VSC even as MSDN subscribers with access to VS?

Really thanks for your feedbacks for Microsoft products.

As far as I know:

VSCode is a cross-platform (Linux, Mac OS, Windows) editor that can be extended with plugins to your needs.

Visual Studio  is a "full-featured" and "convenient" development environment.

Not the Angular team experts, but I really got information about the Angular app like this blog:

VSCode provides much more features now.

But for the Angular app, I think you could find much extensions/functions under the VS Extensions and updates window:
