I upgraded my "primary" Win 10 PC with VS2017 to version 15.6 and all seems to work fine.

I also did the same on my "Secondary" Win 10 PC, but got some problems as follows:

The 2 setups are very much identical. On the problem machine commit details and tags are shown just fine by e.g. Atlassian SourceTree so it seems to be something internal in VS.
I have tried to repair VS, uninstalling VS and re-installing, but still same.

Any hint of what to do? (I would not like to reinstall windows except if strong recommendations)

I got the same problem after update my VS yesterday. Visual Studio Pro 2017 Version 15.6.0. 
I'm able to view branch history, but there is no tags. 
and when I try to view Commit Details, I got this error:

"Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
Parameter name: count"
