Hi,

Excel is causing an issue when tried checking in back after checked out in sharepoint site 2013

We have few excel and word document as well who asks for fill mandatory property while checking in, but unable to select anything in that property.(Suppose property name "Network Type" and option box is greyed out.)

That's the reason we're unable to upload document/check in back.

Please assist how to get rid of that property.

I have tried doing "Inspect", but it helped once and again started with same problem.

Hi Jayashri,

I suppose that the property is greyed out and display "Edit Property on server" in the Document Information Panel. Some field types cannot be edited in the client applications.

What is field type of "Network Type"? You can check the file type of this field in Library settings -> Columns section.

As this "Network Type" cannot be edited using client applications (such as Excel), you need to change the field from "Required" to "Optional".

1. Navigate to the library settings page.

2. Under Content Types, click the name of the content type where the column is used in.

3. Under Columns, check the status of this column.

4. Change it to Optional.
