Hello Tom，

SharePoint Server权限级别在网站集级别定义，默认情况下从父对象继承。因此，您可以继承子网站的权限。

但您无法继承跨网站或网站集的群组权限。

I'm in the process of creating a new SharePoint structure for my company, having come from MOSS 2007. My issue is we have requested a multitude of SharePoint sites and I am looking at the best way to set up permissions. on MOSS 2007 we used an application called QARS and would simply add this permission group into our SharePoint Sites.

I'm now trying to utilize SharePoint groups but have noticed there doesn't seem to be any correlation between groups on different sites? When i try and add the group on a different site it can't find it. If I can't use SharePoint groups to link permissions between different sites is there any other way i can achieve this?

Hello Tom,

SharePoint Server permission levels are defined at the site collection level and are inherited from the parent object by default. So you can inherit permission on subsites.

But you can not inherit the group permission on the cross website or site collection.
